It’s not surprising some people are intimidated if they want to learn how to play craps. The whooping, the hollering and the noise and excitment a game of craps generates is a big part of the fun at a casino if you are among the “in crowd”. If not, it can be a little intimidating. This can stop people coming to the table.
This is a shame as if you do learn how to play craps, you will find it offers one of the best value bets in the casino. The “passline” bet has a small advantage, while the “odds bet” offers the actual true odds.
So why learn to play craps online? Well the best reason is if gives you a chance to get to grips with the game at your own pace. Craps is actually quite simple to master if you have a bit of space and time – but in the first rush to understand the basics you can get confused.
The very basics are that craps is a game of two dice. Firstly you must see if the game is “on” or “off”. The easiest bet is that passline bet mentioned earlier. If you bet here and the first roll is 7 or 11, the good news, you win your bet. Good old Lucky 7. A roll of 2, 3 or 12, means you lose. Not so lucky.

If any other number is rolled, then the game become “on”. The passline bet now wins if the first number rolled comes up is the same as the original. From now one, though, its unlucky seven. So if a 9 was rolled originally and the dice roller (known as the shooter) rolls another 9, your passline bet wins. If his next roll is a 7 though, your bet is a loser. This is where people can get confused as they learn how to play craps. Sometimes seven is your friend, sometimes it isn’t.
The “odds bet” I mentioned earlier is available once the game is “on”. This is where you bet on the original roll coming up again before a seven.
You can see there’s lots of terminology to pick up. With these very basic staring bets, you can feel your way as you learn how to play craps slowly at your own pace as part of the online casino experience. Then, if you visit a real casino, you can hoot and holler with the best of them!
